my 50 favorite things: Children's & Young Adult Books

As the end of another summer is fast approaching, I reflect on reading as one of my favorite summer hobbies when I was a child. And with the recent celebration of the 50th Anniversary of one of my all time favorite Young Adult books, To Kill A Mockingbird, I am amazed at its staying power over the years and I wonder, what are kids and teenagers today reading? Here's where you come in! Help me create a list of "my 50 favorite things" with a list of your favorite Children's and Young Adult books.

my 50 favorite things: a love for pop culture

Welcome to "my 50 favorite things"!

One of my most favorite things, is the musical, "The Sound of Music" and one of the first songs I learned from the soundtrack was "My Favorite Things", performed by Julie Andrews. Every once in a while that song will pop into my head and I even have it as a ringtone, and I use it to alert me of reminders on my cell phone. My quest with "my 50 favorite things" is to highlight lists of 50 favorites in pop culture an everyday life that other people might find fascinating, and just maybe to create a battle.

So, what are you favorite things in life? Music? Books? Travel Destinations? Movies? And the list goes on....Chime in on your favorite things on "my 50 favorite things" and see who's nominations make the cut!

Readers will be able to nominate their top choices and these lists will be gathered via blog comment posts and from Facebook and Twitter responses.

The ultimate inspiration for "my 50 favorite things" comes from the fact that my parents have been married for 50 years, which, in today's society, is a pretty significant feat. So, what better way to show homage to my parents love, than to showcase my love for pop culture in lists of 50.

I don't know which direction this will take me in, but I hope to do an "End of the Year" journal issue of all of the top "my 50 favorite things"list nominations.
